Not Mad At Madonna
I wonder if some of the people scoffing at Madonna’s most recent projected image might have once been quite happy to go along with her as a younger entertainer in the past - dancing to her music at clubs, buying the magazines that promoted her and perhaps secretly envying her status as one of the world’s most celebrated entertainers.
This angry trolling crowd is furious because in their eyes, a “grandma” shouldn’t be seen dancing like that or projecting the same kind of personality as she once did in her youthful years.
They especially don’t approve of her changed appearance, either from natural ageing or the procedures she has quite openly admitted to, never once truthfully conceding that she would have been damned if she tweaked and damned if she didn’t.
It’s clear that Madonna’s fans do want her to continue to perform and have proved their loyalty through actual ticket sales.
Many people have also noticed that aside from a little quip here and there in the media, no other celebrity performer has experienced as much overt criticism as Madonna has, based on her inability to reverse the phenomena of ageing.
The crucifying crowd, needs to become more honest with themselves. What exactly are you up in arms about? The person or the entertainer?
If you don’t like the content that is the entertainment, fine, move on, no one is forcing you to go to her concert, watch a music clip, or buy a record.
If you want to critique Madonna at the level of performance, that’s one thing, but that is NOT what is going on thanks to the media having a field day with snippets of imagery that are distortions of reality (at the best of times).
I’m hearing and seeing a violent kind of outrage directed toward her that is unfair and quite honestly extremely ugly.
One well-known you-tuber recently leveled quite a disturbing amount of criticism toward Madonna, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P0v7IVwiYM&t=1078s calling for her to leave the stage - and I had to wonder - is this bullying mostly coming from men or women?
There’s no real way to prove it, but I have a dreadful feeling that it’s actually coming from women primarily.
Although not from any intelligent women perhaps critiquing her performance as an artist - that’s for sure. ALL of the brutality is centered around her appearance, conflated with her “right” to keep performing…
So in other words, if for example, she lost the use of her limbs in some way, she ought to be banned from performing?
Is that how you would want it to be in this world?
She made her own “artistic license” and the expiry date is up to her.
Sure, it’s not easy watching our idols melt in front of our eyes, but it’s imperative that we see through the illusion of the fading flesh and take our own lives and the illusions we have created about ourselves more seriously.
