10 Reasons To Love Your Body

For many women, viewing their physical body in the mirror’s reflection is often an experience fraught with a ton of self-judgement, mostly based on attempting to play some kind of comparison game.

IT DOES YOU NO GOOD and you know it. Neither does pretending you have love and acceptance for your body simply because you would like to agree with all that “self-love” talk, but you just can’t really convince yourself when it comes down to it.

If you weren’t comparing your body in any way to any other body, you automatically would be celebrating!

Our physical body is more than appearance right? It’s a complex system designed to navigate the world and experience all that life has to offer. And yet you might only be acknowledging your physical body from the very limited “appearance” perspective most of the time.

Perhaps you do sometimes take a moment to reflect on your body as a marvelous creation - that’s great, but I think it’s time we started making those moments last a whole lot longer don’t you think?

Rather than viewing your body in terms of it’s appearance through the eyes of others, we can instead perceive it as a “vehicle of expression” - and not just for the sake of pleasing others.

If we would learn to listen closely to our own body, we might begin to appreciate the subtle signals it is constantly sending us (various postural patterns that are not optimal for example) and would then be able to make the necessary changes before the situation required outside intervention.

Being mindful of how various foods might make us feel and not just overriding the body’s reactions - realising we have to work with it instead of just pushing it around.

Adopting this attitude will go a long way toward honestly having more love and acceptance when it comes to your physical form.

So remember these top ten reasons to love your body outside the “comparison game” you might be mistakenly playing!

1.Unique Beauty: Your body is a masterpiece, unique and unlike any other. Every scar, freckle, curve, and imperfection tells a story of your individuality. Embrace the beauty that is distinctly yours.

2. Miracle of Functionality: Consider the incredible capabilities of your body—breathing, moving, thinking, feeling.

3. Resilience: Throughout your life, your body has faced challenges, illnesses, and stress. Despite it all, it keeps going, adapting, and healing. Recognize and celebrate the resilience that resides within you.

4. Expression of Self: Your body is a canvas for self-expression. Through style, tattoos, piercings, or simply how you carry yourself, you have the power to showcase your personality and individuality.

5. Capacity for Pleasure: Your body is equipped with the ability to experience pleasure—whether through touch, taste, or other sensory delights. Take joy in the simple pleasures your body allows you to indulge in.

6. Learning and Growth: Your body is a vessel of constant learning and growth. It evolves with time, and every experience leaves an imprint. Embrace the journey of self-discovery and the wisdom that comes with it.

7. Connection with Others: Through your body, you can connect with others on a profound level. Hugs, kisses, and even a simple handshake are expressions of human connection facilitated by your physical presence.

8. Instrument of Achievement: Your body is the instrument through which you achieve your goals and dreams. It enables you to pursue your passions, whether that involves running a marathon, creating art, or excelling in your career.

9. Intuition and Instinct: Your body communicates with you through intuition and instinct. Pay attention to the signals it sends, whether in the form of butterflies in your stomach or a sense of calm. Your body often knows what your mind may overlook.

10. Home for Your Soul: Ultimately, your body is the home for your soul. It houses your thoughts, emotions, and spirit. By loving and caring for your body, you create a harmonious space for your inner self to thrive.

Conclusion: Loving your body is a powerful act of self-empowerment and an essential step toward overall well-being. Embrace your body for the unique, resilient, and beautiful vessel it is, and allow self-love to be the foundation upon which you build a fulfilling and joyful life.
